Marilyn Rivers is the Principal of Rivers Risk Consulting. She is nationally recognized as a strategic risk management professional known for establishing best practice standards for the public sector. She has a combined thirty-five years of experience managing operational risk in both the public and private sectors in local and national markets. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Clarkson University and a Masters in Secondary Education from Tufts University. Marilyn has professional designations as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Claims (AIC) from The Institutes.

Marilyn actively provides strategic operational risk education to national insurance, risk, and safety professional organizations and government agencies via podcasts, webinars and in person training. She assisted in the resurgence of PRIMA Institute – the Public Risk Management Association’s center for excellence for the education of public risk management professionals and is a past recipient of PRIMA’s Risk Manager of the Year and the PRIMA President’s Award for Excellence awarded as a result of her leadership and stewardship of the organization’s education and training activities.

Marilyn is also active in providing operational risk services to non-profit organizations. She is nationally known as a consensus builder. When the going gets tough, she digs in to help her partners work together to persevere in difficult situations.
